WMF Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik
The fine brass, copper and silver metalware produced by distinguished manufacturer Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik (WMF) has adorned the tabletops of restaurants, hotels and homes around the world. WMF is especially prized by collectors for its Art Nouveau works of the late 19th century and Art Deco pieces manufactured throughout the early 20th century.
WMF traces its beginnings to 1880 when the merger of Straub & Sohn and Ritter & Co. formed the public limited company Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik. The company initially focused on tableware and decorative pieces, such as vases and planters. In 1892, WMF introduced its patented “perfect hard silver plating,” a technology that distributes twice as much silver to the sections of cutlery that experience the most wear, allowing the whole piece to hold its luster longer than other silver-plated products.
In 1905, WMF acquired a majority holding of Orivit AG, a company in Cologne that manufactured products from a tin alloy, further expanding its range of materials. By 1910, its main facility in Geislingen, Germany, employed 4,000 workers. It had branches in Vienna, Warsaw and London, and printed a catalog in 12 languages.
As a German business, WMF experienced extensive asset loss in the aftermath of the world wars. However, by 1950, its main facility once again had a workforce of more than 3,000 employees, and its high-quality products returned to popularity. There was an increase in demand for its Cromargan cutlery as well as work by WMF’s preeminent lighting designer, Wilhelm Wagenfeld.
By the 1960s, WMF’s main facility had 5,800 employees. More factories were opened to keep up with demand. WMF is now one of the largest manufacturers of metalware in the world and continues to produce pieces of superb quality. The company has over 200 branches in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and owns branches in 40 other countries.

- Rare Antique WMF Attr. Arts & Crafts Embossed Brass Coal Kettle /Firewood BucketBy WMF Württembergische MetallwarenfabrikLocated in Lisse, NLLarge, decorative and top quality workmanship brass, copper and bronze bucket. This one is for the connoisseurs, because it ticks all the Arts and Crafts boxes. The first owner who would have had this piece custom made or who bought it from one of the best craftsman/manufacturers in the early Arts & Crafts era (1890-1900) simply had incredibly good taste. This likely German made antique is among the best workmanship pieces that you will ever see and both design and materials wise it is most likely made by WMF (who need no further introduction). The artisan metal worker who crafted this lidded bucket took things to a whole new level, because this is a true work of art and a statement piece of unsurpassed quality, size and detail. 'Casually' on display next to a fireplace or perhaps used as a planter or other type of bucket, the first owner was communicating that money was not an object and that he was a worldly individual. Especially 125 years ago this would have been a very rare and desirable, work of art bucket that only very few people could afford. Its perfect balance, its stunning embossed Arts and Crafts floral...Category

- Superb Arts & Crafts Hand Forged Wrought Iron Hall Coat Rack and Umbrella StandLocated in Lisse, NLIncredible workmanship antique coat rack & stick stand. Over the years we have seen and sold a number of unique and top quality antiques made of wrought iron, but this is by far the best we have ever seen. The Arts & Crafts design of this large and incredibly stylish hallway coat rack really is breath taking. Both design wise and in terms of the quality of the workmanship this simply is a work of art. The quality of the 'blacksmithing' is so good that we first did not understand what we were looking at, because it is almost too good. The precision with which the hand forged details are made and the cleanness of the surface and the perfection of the connections, we have never seen anything like this. We even contemplated that this could be a replica. However, when looking at the wear to the base, the antique nuts and the antique wooden casters...Category
