About the Item
A Japanese hanging scroll or Kakejiku, circa 1890, depicting bamboo grass and a rabbit. In Japanese culture, the rabbit is a symbol of cleverness and self-devotion. Bamboo is a symbol of prosperity, purity and innocence. Both elements have been depicted in Japanese art since the 12th Century or earlier.
This original scroll is hand-painted on delicate parchment / silk paper, preserved in very good condition.
