Pair of Plein-Air California Landscape Paintings Edward Langley
About the Item
1870 - 1949
Mr. Langley was known for painting California Landscapes.
He had an adventurous and colorful life.
He floated around California working as an art teacher, was a prisoner of war and worked at the Hollywood studios.
He was a prolific painter.
These two canvas' are a fine example of his early work.
They appear to be oil and or gouache.
They are in original vintage condition and can use a light restoration.
The colors are still there with age and have been slightly enhanced by the camera shot.
No tares or repairs, but have some minor surface wear mainly on the blueish sky one, a black scratch and some small black spots. It also has some illegible writing on the back of the wood. It appears to be titled "Imperial Valley California" dated 1936.
The other dated 1933 does not appear to have any surface issues except for some brown spots on the back.
Both show wear around the edges with nails.
They have been lightly cleaned / dusted.
No frame.
