Additional Details: Air France poster from 1934 to promote tourism in North Africa and the Maghreb. An Air France plane flies over a medina, certainly the medina of Marrackech (Morocco). The minaret of the Koutoubia mosque, which is located 200 meters from Jemaa el-Fna Square, stands out in front of the peaks of the Atlas mountains. The shrimp (or Seahorse or Winged Horse), emblem of Air France from 1933 to 1976, is visible in the C de France. The composition of the Company's posters at this time revolves around four elements: The sky, an airplane, the nine letters of Air-France and "the shrimp". Maurice Guiraud-Rivière, born Jean Achille Maurice Guiraud in 1881 and died in 1947, is a French painter, designer, and sculptor. He exhibited at the Salon of French Artists from 1907. Art Deco style sculptor, Maurice Guiraud-Rivière is the author of numerous statuettes mainly on the themes of women, sport, aviation or automobiles. He was also an author of models for the Manufacture nationale de Sèvres between 1911 and 1923. He is also the author of humorous drawings and orientalist-inspired watercolors painted during a trip to Morocco in 1933. Returning from Morocco, he created posters for the Chemins de fer du Maroc and Air France.
