- Junichiro Sekino Signed Japanese Limited Edition Woodblock Print AquariumBy Junichiro SekinoLocated in Studio City, CAA wonderfully composed and richly colored, limited edition woodblock print by famed Japanese artist Junichiro Sekino. This print, which is titled "Aquarium", is signed and sealed/ stamped in red at the lower right. We believe this was created in 1956 although it could have been made in 1946 (there are some conflicting dates on this image but we assume 1956 is correct) and comes from a limited edition of 50 prints (the exact number of this particular print and date/year is likely listed in pencil below the matt but we have not removed the print from the frame to confirm the exact number/year). The very image is widely considered by many Sekino critics and scholars to be one of Sekino's masterpieces. It is an exquisite and rare/hard-to-find work. Junichiro Sekino was largely considered, along with Kiyoshi Saito, to be one of Japan's paramount 20th century master print artists. Both were prominent leaders of the Sosaku Hanga movement. Sekino's works can be found in many museums including: The Museum of Modern Art, N. Y., the Art Institute Chicago, the Museum of Fine Art, Boston, the British Museum, and the Portland Art Museum among many other Fine museums throughout the world. Would be a fantastic addition to any modern Japanese print...Category

- Junichiro Sekino Signed Limited Edition Japanese Woodblock Print Rooftop ViewBy Junichiro SekinoLocated in Studio City, CAA wonderfully composed and richly colored, limited edition woodblock print by famed Japanese artist Junichiro Sekino. This relatively large print, which is of a rooftop view of a temple shrine in Japan (perhaps Nagasaki as he did a similar print in 1975 but perhaps Kyoto or Tokyo) is hand pencil signed, sealed / stamped in red, numbered (18/128), and dated (1972). The image is likely from Sekino's coveted rooftop series that he did featuring various rooftop patterns from around the world including Japan and Italy. An exquisite and rare / hard-to-find work. Junichiro Sekino was largely considered, along with Kiyoshi Saito, to be one of Japan's paramount 20th-century master print artists. Both were prominent leaders of the Sosaku Hanga movement. This work is part of the Vera List Anniversary Print Portfolio, created in recognition of the exceptional legacy of philanthropist Vera List. It was the generosity of Vera and her husband Albert that enabled the founding of the Vera List Art Project at Lincoln Center in 1962, MIT's List Arts Center in 1982, and the Vera List Center for Art and Politics at The New School in 1992, among others. These institutions joined forces with Artspace and six internationally renowned artists to produce this print portfolio. This print by Fred Wilson is comprised of a mashup of flags of Caribbean nations, presenting an idea about the relationships among the people of these cultures. Fred Wilson is a conceptual artist of African-American and Caribbean descent who's primarily known for rearranging art and artifacts in museum collections to reveal the inherent racism and gender politics that are often overlooked. First gaining notoriety in the early '90s with the exhibition Mining the Museum, in which he placed a whipping post from pre-Civil War America in a gallery and surrounded it with four ornate chairs...Category
