Pair Original Hand Colored Engravings, Georges-Louis Leclerec, Comte de Buffon, Paris 1749. These two original engravings from Histoire Naturell, Generale et Particuliere, avec la Description du Cabiner du Roi, are later hand colored and framed under glass. Buffon’s Histoire Naturelle was a massive undertaking that covered the whole animal kingdom. The painted engravings of which have had a considerable effect on zoological art. Measurements: image H 8.75" x W 6.25" framed H 15" x W 12" Very good condition. Color is strong and overall condition is well preserved. (see photos). weight 2lbs. 5oz. each.
