First Edition early 19th Century Zuber Paravent of Mongin's 'Les Vues d'Italie"

About the Item

An extraordinary first edition series of Zuber et Cie produced in 1818 after designs by Pierre-Anotine Mongin (1761-1827). These sections of the design represent the "Neapolitan Dance" with scenes of rural life and a goatherd and his dog with their charges to the left. A magnificent woodland scene rich in coloration and dynamism is framed by a marbleized border. The reverse is covered with attractive hand-painted faux paneling. The folding screen is now a wall-mounted work of art of impressive scale. France, 1818
