Old XIXth BROOCH, Enamels, Silver, Vermeil, Antik BROOCH, Burgundy France

About the Item

OLD BROOCH early 19th century, antique brooch, in Georgian French enamel and vermeil silver. Brooch is decorated with an enamel motif typical of the town of Bourg-en-Bresse, in the region of Burgundy, France. French jewel from the Restoration period in France, Georgian period, between 1819 and 1838. dimensions: width 5 cm, height 4.5 cm, weight 14 g, good condition for its age, but I think the clasp needle is not original (hence the price, which is always negotiable). Bressan enamels are traditional jewels exclusively made in Bourg-en-Bresse in the department of Ain, they are made of enamel, fine particles of gold, all set on a mount. The Bressan tradition dates the origin of this technique back to the 14th century from 1397 when an enameller from the city, Master Guillaume, was entrusted with the sword of Amédée VIII of Savoy to decorate the pommel and the scabbard. This regional jewel, intimately linked to the traditional Bressan costume, reached its peak in the years 1800 to 1900, both in their creation and in their distribution. In the middle of the 19th century, the Bressan goldsmiths Amédée Bonnet and Amédée Fornet gave new impetus to these regional creations. In their workshops in Bourg-en-Bresse, they initiated a new genre, incorporating enamel plates, gold sequins, enamel beads and filigree arabesques into colored backgrounds.

Magnificent old BROOCH, 60s vintage, by famous light craftsman JACQUES GAUTIER, signed, sold with its box, dimensions 4.8 x 4.8 cm, weight 45 g, very good condition, can be cleaned (on request) to regain its shine. For more than fifty years, this multi-talented artist has mainly dedicated the expression of his art to the beauty of women. • Louis ROUSSELET, Brooch in glass beads, FRANCE 1940, vintage
    By Louis Rousselet
    Located in SAINT-CLOUD, FR
Sublime old BROOCH, 40s vintage, by famous French designer LOUIS ROUSSELET and Gripoix glass, length 8cm, width 5.5cm, good condition. A child of Ménilmontant and the popular suburbs of Paris, Louis Rousselet was born in 1892 and shared his first class benches with Maurice Chevalier, before becoming an apprentice in a pearl factory at the age of 12. Although very young, his artistic talent and strong personality made him quickly noticed. In 1920, he founded his own workshops to which he gave his name and whose specialty was imitation enamel and pearl glass beads. Coco Chanel, who then wanted to promote costume jewellery, became one of the house's first clients. Then Dior, Lanvin, Schiaparelli, Jacques Fath, Balenciaga, Balmain… For more than 60 years, all the great couturiers came to get their supplies from Rousselet, who imagined for them adornments implementing a unique know-how. The workshops employed up to 800 people. Many music hall and cinema personalities appear in the press covered with Rousselet pearls, such as Ginger Rogers during a stocking organized by Jacques Fath. Mistinguett is the face of the house and regularly strikes a pose in the workshops, surrounded by the workers and the parurier. Between 1920 and until the mid-1960s Louis Rousselet would be one of the most important Parisian fashion designers. Magnificent large BROOCH, vintage, by Karl LAGERFELD, signed, diameter 5.7 cm, weight 37 g, very good state. Born in Hamburg, Karl Lagerfeld settled in Paris in 1954. His design of a coat won him the International Wool Secretariat and allowed him to work for the famous couturier Pierre Balmain. He then became the designer for Jean Patou. Because of his ability to revive and reimagine brands that had stagnated, in 1984 Lagerfeld was given the reins of Chanel. Lagerfeld's collections for Chanel, in particular, testify to his talent for synthesizing the old and the new. From Watteau (spring-summer 1985 couture) and Serge Roche (spring-summer 1990 ready-to-wear) to hip-hop fly girls (fall-winter 1991 ready-to-wear), surfers (ready-to-wear Spring-Summer 2003) and Ancient Egypt (Pre-Fall 2019), Lagerfeld drew inspiration from each season to redesign Chanel signatures.
