About the Item
Impressive Stardust necklace designed by Gay Freres.
A rare and one-of-a-kind sculptural vintage piece, created in Switzerland during the post war period, circa 1950. This unusual necklace has been conceived as an stardust explosion with spikes by the jewelry house of Gay Freres. Crafted, with excessively brutalism patterns, in solid yellow gold of 18 karats, with accents in white gold. Suited at both ends with an invisible custom push lock.
Each piece is individually constructed, with highly textured surfaces with rocky mountain appearances. Each section is assembled with impeccable precision, with elements of different dimensions and creating a graduated articulated visual effect.
The weight of this piece of art is 182.9 grams and fit a neck up to 16 inches, can be sized up or down. The measures of the main frontal element 117 mm by 91 mm (4.62 by 3.60 inches).
Stamped, with the designer maker's cartouche GF for Gay Freres, the serial numbers the Swiss assay hallmarks and signed "G.F. SWISS MADE .750 131".
Gay Freres company was founded in the 1835 by Jean Pierre Gay and Gaspard Tissot. Historically always in Geneva, today is owned by the Rolex company and located in France. Has been one of the world's finest jewelers for over 170 years and they are know for their commitment to only hand-made jewelry and fashion forward designs with suburb quality and innovative fabrication. Their designs have been included in the collections of the finest retailers and collectors, world-wide.
Note: Brutalism is an artistic style which emerged during the 1950's in the United Kingdom, among the reconstruction projects of the post-war era. Brutalist buildings and art pieces, such this are characterized by minimalist constructions that showcase the bare building materials and the structural construction over decorative design. The style commonly makes use of exposed, unpainted, unfinished surfaces with out smooth finishes. Angular, geometric shapes and a predominantly monochrome colour palette.

Note: The jewelry pieces of Gay Freres from this period, was only manufactured as unique one of a kind pieces. They are all are extremely rare and this necklace should be an incredible addition to any jewelry collection.

Condition: The overall condition of this fabulous necklace is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
