GIA-Certified Diamond & Mother of Pearl Pendant, Georgian
About the Item
Dating from around the 1830s, this magnificent Georgian pendant features a silver-over-gold "bow" set with 13 beautiful old rose-cut diamonds that total at least 1 carat. From this spectacular mounting is suspended what for all the world looks like Queen Mary's missing pearl -but what is in fact carved mother-of-pearl. At a later date, a pin was added on the back so that the pendant could also be worn as a brooch. All the stones appear secure in the mounting. I cannot test the karat of the gold but it's most likely around 15K.
This regal jewel measures 41.03mm from top to bottom and 24.94 across the span of the bow.
This rare and beautiful pendant/brooch ships with a certificate from the GIA stating that it is made from natural mother of pearl.
