About the Item

Colorful Tutti-Frutti jeweled domed cocktail ring. Iconic colorful piece of jewelry from the late American art deco / mid century periods, circa 1950. The mounting elements was individually assembled and crafted in solid 18 karats of yellow gold. The dome surface is mounted in four-prongs settings, with 18 precious gemstones, each one is set with four prongs. They are blue sapphires (6), red rubies (3) and green emeralds (9). All of them are natural, not heated or treated and carved with organic leaves motifs, with an estimate total weight of 45.1 carats. The spaces between the large gems are filled up and accented with a potpourri of 36 round brilliant cuts gems, like diamonds (3), rubies (11), sapphires (11) and emeralds (11), all together have a weight of 1.80 carats. Weight: 20.4 grams (13.08 Dwt). Size: 7.25 and can be sized. Measures: 25 mm by 32 mm (1.02 by 1.28 Inches) and raise 18 mm over the finger. Hallmarks: Stamped for the gold assay, ".750". History The first Tutti Frutti piece was designed in 1901 by Pierre Cartier. It was a necklace commissioned by queen Alexandra to be worn with three Indian gowns she received as a gift. The designs are considered the perfect mix of east and west because they are made up of brightly colored gemstones (like sapphires, rubies and emeralds) carved using Indian techniques and set in French platinum and diamond mountings. The style became extremely popular during the 1920's, but it wasn't christened the 'Tutti Frutti' until1970. Collateral: It is accompanied by a presentation jewelry box.
