This print features the film icon Marilyn Monroe, who has been a popular subject for Peter Blake as well as other Pop Artists, most notably Andy Warhol. “Contemporary art has always been so serious, but I have managed to keep the playful, surrealist thing going”- Peter Blake The image portrays Monroe with her signature smile, her gaze addresses the viewer directly. Blake accentuated Marilyn's red lips and the background while keeping her face and hair silver matte, thus he emphasized her status as a sex symbol.
