Francesco Christofanetti Art

Italian, 1901-1951

Francesco Cristofanetti was a first-half 20th-century Italian painter who trained in the School of Paris style and eventually traveled to America in the 1940s. He had a one-man show at New York's Valentine Gallery and exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York as part of "Twelve Contemporary Paintings." Art critic Emily Genaurer of the New York World-Telegram described Cristofanetti's work as, "lyric, innocent, extraordinarily sensitive studies of the simplest things." He also designed sets for the Juilliard School in New York City.
