Dogwoods, Flowering Dogwood Trees in a Wooded Landscape, Oil on Panel
By Jeff Aeling
Located in Chicago, IL
Early springtime is the subject of Jeff Aeling's photo-realistic painting entitled "Dogwoods". The tiny white flowers are just appearing on the dogwood trees as it emerges from winter's grip. Loose brush strokes and gentle dabs of paint evoke impressionist painting. The somber palette is broken with subtle white and pink flowers and a hopeful sky. The painting is framed in a heavy black frame measuring 45h x 33h inches.

Field Painting August 17 2020, Landscape, Flowers in Green Field, Trees, Flowers
By Thomas Sarrantonio
Located in Kent, CT
This square landscape painting in oil on panel depicts a peaceful outdoor scene of a delicately painted field with white and pale lilac flowers, shrouded in mist, beneath a tree with olive green leaves, beautifully capturing the idyllic feel of a field of wildflowers and tall grass in mid-August. Signed, dated and titled on verso.
The paintings of Thomas Sarrantonio seek to mediate between realms of external perception and internal reflection. They present themselves as meditations on nature and self. Choosing humble, often overlooked subject matter, such as the overgrown grasses at the edge of a field, he attempts to translate the dynamic processes of Nature into the stasis of physical matter on a painted surface. Small works are produced directly from Nature while large paintings are studio productions that utilize memory, experience, imagination and conceptual ideas to negotiate the terrain of contemporary painting. The paintings are offered to the viewer as templates to provoke active participation in the process of seeing and quiet contemplation of the act of consciousness.
Thomas Sarrantonio studied Painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia where his teachers included Wil Barnet and Sidney Goodman...

Her Compliments, Horizontal Abstract Landscape, Pink, Dark Red, Brown, White
By Shane McAdams
Located in Kent, CT
In this horizontal landscape painting in ink and oil on paper mounted on panel, the artist's unique ink process creates soft striations of bright pink, dark crimson red, pale yellow and orange at the center of a layered, undulating composition. The result is an abstract landscape suggesting a hilly mountain range, while layers of oil paint and a soft, faint background create depth within the surface. Signed, dated and titled on verso.
Shane McAdams’ work is about landscape in the broadest sense. The artist grew up in the desert southwest...
