We are lucky enough to live within easy reach of several canals. A walk along the towpath is peaceful and timeless. The reflections of the canal side trees and rushes in the water and the view of life on the opposite bank as you pass by fields, trees and occasional villages. Each time you visit the atmosphere is changed by the season and here I wanted to capture a sunlit, summer afternoon, away from the pace and noise of the city. What interests me is not the linear definitions of individual objects – whether natural or man-made, trees or houses – but the path of light and the rejection into shadow.
