Raphael G. Wolff Art
Raphael Gustave Wolff was born in Missouri on June 3, 1901. He settled in Los Angeles in 1936. He was a photographer, produced industrial motion pictures and also painted in his leisure. Wolff was also a Hollywood photographer, and his assignment was to photograph Norma Jean Dougherty, commonly known as Marilyn Monroe, only if she agreed to have her hair bleached for the shampoo commercial shoot. Wolff offered to pay for the bleaching, and Norma Jean became a blonde and a sensation. Wolff exhibited at the San Gabriel Fine Arts Association in 1968. He died in Pasadena, California, on February 13, 1972.
