"technology man" Life-Size Bronze Sculpture
Located in Coral Gables, FL
A bronze sculpture by John Brevard depicts a man in a profound state of contemplation, standing as if in prayer. His focus is entirely on the cell phone he holds before him, symbolizing the modern world's devotion to technology. The figure's expression, a mix of reverence and obsession, suggests a deeper narrative about the digital age's impact on human spirituality and connection. The phone, subtly detailed to hint at an apple, serves as a modern 'forbidden fruit,' representing temptation and knowledge in the digital era. The sculpture captures the intricate relationship between humanity and technology, rendered in bronze to evoke a timeless quality amidst a contemporary theme. This piece is a contemporary expression on a midcentury masterwork. Inspired by A 1947 bronze sculpture by Alberto Giacometti. The pointing man became the most expensive sculpture...

Contemporary Blossom Bonsai Hand Blown Glass Sculpture 2023 #02 Simone Crestani
Located in Camisano Vicentino, IT
Introducing an exquisite Hand-Blown Glass Sculpture representing a bonsai tree in blossom, masterfully crafted by the renowned Italian artist Simone Crestani. This stunning sculpture encapsulates the delicate beauty and profound symbolism of a bonsai, capturing the essence of nature in a timeless work of art. "The bonsai is the symbol of my work; it is the art of giving form, with respect and full understanding of what I am taking care of. The bonsai is a concentration of life, it overcomes the barrier of size and expresses strength and energy; it is a work of art that is never finished, in which nature continues to develop and evolve. I shape the material, but the end result has an identity of its own. I help it to grow and wait until it gives me an indication of the equilibrium that will allow it to express itself. With the bonsai, I am always ready to start work again, to reach a new limit, to follow a new branch of thought. It is my work that grows, slowly, with exertion and wisdom, and each day gives me life and emotions." This hand-blown glass bonsai tree...

Relic, Classical Male Nude Torso Fragment in Amber Resin by Dean Kugler
Located in Chicago, IL
This is an extraordinary amber colored resin sculpture of a Classic male nude fragment by artist Dean Kugler. Attention to detail and complete understanding of the human figure are evident. The sculpture is beautifully custom mounted on a steel base with a rust patina. Dean Kugler Relic 1 resin 23.50h x 20w x 6d in 59.69h x 50.80w x 15.24d cm Kugler uses scale and the juxtaposition of disparate elements in order to engage and challenge the viewer. He combines elements such as strength and weakness or beauty and damage to be experienced simultaneously within the same piece of work to create a tense energy. Kugler also incorporates the technical skill of tight rendering with the dynamism of abstraction to create this energy to add additional excitement and intrigue to his aesthetic.   Dean Kugler is a seasoned interdisciplinary artist, painter, and figurative sculptor. His 3D work is featured primarily at Gallery Victor Armendariz in Chicago. In the last three years, Dean has also been featured at Abend Gallery in Denver, The Figge Art Museum, and Bereskin Gallery in Iowa. He has shown at SOFA Chicago in 2017, 2018, and 2019 and participated in ArtPrize in 2013, 2014, and 2015. He sees himself primarily as a sculptor due to the challenges he finds and thrives on within the process. In all its beauty, crudeness, and subtleties, the figure offers infinite opportunities to express feelings and emotions. There is also a physicality to sculpture that requires the work to be experienced through movement in order to reveal more about the piece. Dean has always been drawn to the interactive nature of large-scale sculpture that is available to the public - he loves the idea that his work entices the observer to go beyond what they can see and add tactility to the experience. By using both realism and abstraction, he creates a visual that challenges the viewer to resolve what they are seeing. Therefore, providing a greater connection between the artist and the viewer. Antique Italian Limestone Statue of Diana the Huntress and Her Dog, C. 1890
Located in Dallas, TX
Hand-carved from Italian limestone, circa 1890, this beautiful Neoclassical statue is a unique interpretation of the famous Diana of Versailles statue (the 1st or 2nd-century marble, which is itself a copy of a lost bronze sculpture dating to 325 BC). Our Diana stands barefoot on a two-and-a-half-inch thick square plinth, clad in a kolpos style chiton, complete with remarkable detailing presenting as pleats and folds. Diana has gathered some of the fabric in her left hand, allowing her canine companion to peer out from behind her legs. In her right hand, the goddess (Diana is her name in Roman mythology; her Greek counterpart is Artemis) clutches her ponytail near her chest. An embellished quiver of arrows, featuring fluting and sinuous lines remiscent of plantlife, is slung across her torso, tucked behind her right shoulder. This Italian limestone statue...

Antique, New and Vintage Figurative Sculptures

Figurative sculpture is a modern art form in which artists create work that is typically representative of the visible world. However, sculptures that are considered to be figurative in style can definitely be inclusive of abstract elements. A wide range of antique, new and vintage figurative sculptures has been made over the years by both well-known and emerging artists, and these pieces can prove striking and provocative as part of your home decor.

Realistic representation in visual art has a very long history. And while figurative artists, whether figurative painters or sculptors, find inspiration in humans, animals and real-life objects, good figurative sculptures can make us think differently about how the real world should look. Just as figurative paintings might include Photorealistic human likenesses, they can also include elements of Surrealism and can suggest a creative and alternative reality. Figurative sculptures aren’t always realistic impressions of our world — depictions of the human form in classical Greek sculpture, for example, might emphasize beauty and physical perfection.

There are a variety of figurative sculptures on 1stDibs created by artists working in a number of styles, including Art Deco, Art Nouveau, mid-century modern and more. A large figurative sculpture can introduce an excellent focal point in a guest bedroom, while smaller works might draw the eye to spaces such as wall shelving or a bookcase that people may otherwise overlook.

When decorating your living room, dining room, home office and study areas with figurative sculptures, don’t be afraid to choose bold colors to inject brightness into neutral spaces. Texture is another factor to consider when purchasing figurative sculptures. A highly textural work of ceramics or wood will catch the eye in a sleek modern space, whereas a smooth, flat glass sculpture can offer an often much-needed contrast in a room that already has many textures.

On 1stDibs, find antique, new or vintage figurative sculpture or other kinds of sculpture for your home decor today.
