Open Crimped Curve Top, Elongated Center, Tripod Legs, Black Ceramic TOTEM

About the Item

Hand built ceramic sculpture in mottled black glaze. This piece, one in a series of Modern TOTEMS has a crimped curve open top, an elongated center form, tripod legs and a luscious black glaze. Each part is hand-formed then attached together before the first firing. In this case, a dark brown stoneware is used with a mottled black glaze. In places, the glaze shows the hand markings beneath, sometimes it has a deep black, sometimes a silver sheen. This variation in the surface adds depth and distinction to the piece. Signed underneath with artist's signature Chop. Pictured below is a sister piece on a mantel for scale and a collection of Modern TOTEMS to inspire you to create your own installation!
