Pier Luigi Colli Oak Buffet Mirror Sideboard, Midcentury, Italy, 1940s-1950s
Located in New York, NY
Pier luigi Colli oak sideboard, Mid-Century Modern, Italy, 1950s Beautiful oak sideboard. The oak has lovely patina throughout the piece. It is a large-scale sideboard with four doors and architectural details throughout. Amazing oak grain visible throughout the piece. Smoked glass mirrors cover the front doors. The piece is in original vintage condition. Measures: 19 inches deep 93 inches wide 33 inches high Hays Company/Pier Luigi Colli The firm was founded in Turin in 1850, as a laboratory that embroidered for the upholstery of armchairs and sofas. The manufactory collaborated with the Martinotti and C.ia furniture manufacturer, Giuseppe and then Luigi Martinotti, who since 1831 produced luxury furniture in style and from the end of the century in the most up-to-date liberty style. At the death of Federico Martinotti, the last male descendant of the family, in the twenties, the widow gave way to Teresa and Maria Colli and the two companies reunited, assuming the name "Colli da 1831" (with the date they referred To the foundation of the firm Martinotti). Then came Pier Luigi Colli (1895-1968), younger brother of the two holders who had attended the courses of the École des arts décoratifs. Pier Luigi Colli, thanks to his close relationship with Paris, imported Lalique glasses and Jean Perzel decor lamps in Turin. The company took care of the real train setup, built by Fiat Ferroviaria and the technical office, led by Pier Luigi Colli, designed and produced the chairs of the Magna University of Turin and the furniture of the Turin seat of the Bank Italy and the Prefecture. In addition to the furniture, the company produced embroidery for coverings and curtains, carpets, lamps with Seguso glasses, door locks and door handles. The company also carried out works designed by external architects: Gio Ponti (partition walls and windows in the Turin headquarters of Vembi), Giovanni Gariboldi (furnishings for the Richard Ginori showroom in Rome), Carlo Mollino (railing of the RAI auditorium and window frames Of the Royal Theater), Domenico Morelli (furniture of the Rai skyscraper); Gabetti and Isola (neoliberty furniture on the stock exchange) Aldo Morbelli (furniture of Fasano jewelery in Via Roma...

Strata Cabinet by SNICKERIET
Located in Geneve, CH
Strata Cabinet by SNICKERIET Dimensions: D 40 x W 125 x H 115,7 cm. Materials: Oak veneer, solid oak, lacquer and wax. Smaller size adjustments are accepted without additional cost. Larger adjustments can be discussed as long as the furniture archetype is maintained. Please contact us. By manipulating wood grain patterns, Strata captures an expression in between the organic and the man-made. The surface consists of tangential layers of oak, veneered at an angle on top of each other, and carefully sanded down into a pattern inspired by the veining of sedimentary rock. The combination of wood grain patterns and stone vein formations creates a mesmerizing texture that draws the mind toward root or burl wood, yet is distinctly different through its repetition and distortion. The technique developed has its roots in conventional intarsia inlay, but in order to find an expression more organic and naturally occurring, the graphical nature of cut-out veneering has been replaced by an extensive process of sanding down transitions between overlapping veneers. Continuing the approach of interpreted nature; all angles, shapes, and proportions of the cabinet relate to pi and the golden ratio. The subsurface of Strata is prepared to compensate for the irregularities caused by the sanding, resulting in a perfectly flush surface. The cabinet is finished with a glossy lacquer and a wax coating. SNICKERIET is a furniture studio with an explorative approach to traditional woodworking craft and philosophy. Projects are initiated as research into topics revolving technique, construction, decoration and material properties. The findings are released in the form of individual pieces of furniture. The studio was founded in 2011 and is based in Stockholm and Gothenburg. Karl-Johan Hjerling, designer, creative director, founder Gunnar Dahl, Production manager, founder Hannu Hietamäki, Lead cabinet...

Helix Cabinet Limited Edition of 3, Designed by Ramón Úbeda for BD Barcelona
Located in Brooklyn, NY
Helix cabinet limited edition of 3, designed by Ramón Úbeda for BD Barcelona, Barcelona. Container, frontals and shelves veneered in natural stained dark oak. Legs in aluminum with a brass coat. Accessories in polished varnished brass. Dimensions 200 x 50 x H 67 cm. REmix project Vol.1 & Vol.2. REcuperate, REuse and REinterpret. BD is joining the prefixed RE conscientiousness - with a project that is without any complex inspired in our grandmother’s kitchen. Cooking with leftovers is something as old as necessary and nevertheless creative. In our recipe book exist memorable dishes that are prepared with hard bread from the previous day, and chicken leftovers from Sunday’s roast. Leftovers that are wisely reused and reinterpreted. For example, the canelón or cannelloni that can be transformed into a kitchen masterpiece. Company warehouses in the design sector also accumulate leftovers. Generally, these are loose pieces or components of furniture parts that have been forgotten about and put in a drawer, because there was once an excess in fabrication or have been discontinued. It’s a considerable amount of stock that has no way out and that grows with time until it becomes a problem. It loses all its value but continues taking up space and ends up being legally certified (mandatory) to be destroyed. BD has accumulated outdated materials as well, but before considering destroying it we thought we could give it a second chance. Amongst the materials, there are the door handles and knobs designed by Cristian Cirici, which had a lot of success during the eighties of the past century, but stopped being sold when the company changed direction to focus on other markets. In our actual catalogue, there are no door handles or knobs, but we have unique pieces; so why not convert these leftovers into design and art pieces? We offer a limited edition until stocks last. This project has been named REmix, since it has something of a mix, like disco music that was fashionable at the same time the original pieces were designed. To complete it we have had the help and participation of different authors. REmix Vol.1 is a limited set of candle holders...
