This charming view of Venice from the Grand Canal was painted by the British artist, Hugh Ralph Micklem in 1976. painted in oils on board, size 16 x 20 inches, it is signed lower right and dated. it was originally exhibited at the Arthur Jeffress gallery in London. Hugh Micklem was born in Hendon and studied at the Central School of Arts and Crafts under Bernard Meninsky and also at the Westminster School of Art under Mark Gertler (1935-37). His work is represented in a number of public collections in Britain including the Government Art Collection.
