Oil on canvas 32.5x55.1 cm. Signed in the lower left and dated 1855. Origin: - Christie's New York sale on February 15, 1985 - Rindoko Museum in Tochigi, Japan - Special collection in 2020 following the sale of the Museum collection. Younger brother and student of Jules Dupré, Léon-Victor Dupré worked in the shadow of his elder. Like him, he placed his easel on the banks of rivers, under the stormy skies of Berry, Limousin, Isle-Adam, or Normandy. He exhibited regularly at the Salon, and obtained a 3rd class medal in 1849.
