Eclat de Pier-original female figure abstract bronze artwork-contemporary Art
By Nicola Godden
Located in London, Chelsea
Bronze, Limited Edition 2 of 9 "Eclat de Pierre" by Nicola Godden is a captivating original figurative bronze sculpture that captivates viewers with its graceful elegance and dynamic presence. Crafted with precision and finesse, this piece showcases Godden's mastery of form and her ability to convey emotion through abstract expression. At the heart of the sculpture stands an abstract female figure, its form exuding a sense of fluidity and movement. The curves and contours of the figure suggest both strength and vulnerability, while the rich earth tones of the bronze add warmth and depth to its surface. Perched atop a square steel base, the sculpture appears to float effortlessly, defying gravity with its weightless presence. The juxtaposition of the organic forms of the figure against the geometric lines of the base creates a visually striking contrast. The medium of bronze lends a tactile quality to the sculpture, inviting viewers to explore its surface and appreciate its intricate details. Each curve and angle is meticulously rendered, from the delicate features of the figure's face to the flowing lines of its limbs. "Eclat de Pierre" is a testament to Godden's skill and creativity as an artist. Whether displayed in a gallery or as a centerpiece in a private collection, this sculpture invites viewers to contemplate the beauty and complexity of the human form, while also serving as a reminder of the enduring power of artistic expression. Artist biography: Nicola Godden is a British contemporary sculptor, boasting over 30 years of experience working primarily in plaster and clay for bronze casting. Born in 1959, the Surrey-based artist has produced site-specific works with property companies and other organisations. Her first large commission was the Hammersmith Man figure in 1988. In 2012, the artist created the Icarus sculpture...

Catch me if you can!- 21st Century Dutch Bronze Sculpture of a Squirrel
By Frans van Straaten
Located in Nuenen, Noord Brabant
This squirrel is made by Dutch Artist Frans van Straaten. Van Straaten should be called an artist of balance always searching for harmony between force and movement in combination with space. Because of the wide range in his art-education he has mastered the art of drawing, painting and sculpting technology. However, the classical plastic art of sculpture and modelling opens up the possibility for him to create his own language of sculpture in answer to his urge for art. Due to this style of sculpting, the preference for bronze is natural. After his study of sculpture at the Academy of Art in Rotterdam (1988), Frans van Straaten creates bronze sculptures in which he unites force and movement. Feeling and Emotion converted into Matter Sculpture is an experience of space combined with the challenge of the three-dimensional. The tension of space and movement are the themes, which Frans expresses in his sculptures. Summary it can be said that the power of life and being, the feeling and emotion by force and movement will be converted into matter. The experience of space is being expressed in the shapes and characters in each of Frans’ sculptures. His sculptures of bulls express explosive power while the horses find their strength in being elegant. Each sculpture recalls this way their own association and serves as a metaphor for a certain emotion. Feelings, which has inspired the artist for each sculpture. Powerful and Elegant Looking at the works of this artist, it becomes very clear that one of his most important sources is his background in art history. The Renaissance period as well as several Italian artists served as inspiration to Frans as a sculpture. For instance the expressions in Leonardo da Vinci’s artworks, and also Giovanni Bologna...

Dancer Movement #1, Bronze Sculpture with Patina, Ed 1/10
Located in WOOLLAHRA, AU
Larissa was born in Belogorsk, a small town in Russia and later moved to The Russian FarEast where she spent her early childhood. Her family moved to Moldova and finally settled in Dushanbe, capital of Tajikistan. At 19 Larissa went off on her own to study art in St Petersburg ( Leningrad ). “Larissa began sculpting in kindergarten from doughy black bread, the only material she could get her hands on. It was just after the war. Russia was still recovering from hard times. Despite the pain from hunger in her tummy, my sister would eat only the breads crust. From the doughy insides, she sculpted a dog, a cat, a tree, but mostly she sculpted the portraits of family members and they were quite recognisable. When Larissa was 12 years old, her artwork won a national competition for children. The picture depicted children of many nationalities dancing together and was chosen to be made into a national post stamp. The organisers of this competition came from Moscow and were determined to make sure that nobody had helped my sister. They couldn’t believe that little girl can draw like that” -Yakov Smagarinsky (brother) At 14 Larissa went to the Art College to study painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, perspective, geometry and literature in Dushanbe Art College where she obtained her diploma. Later she continued her education in St Petersburg where she received a Master Degree in architectural, decorative and monumental sculpture. Her first commissioned sculptures were carved oak based on Russian folklore...
