Guntars Sietins Still-life Prints
Latvian, b. 1962
Sietiņš was born on October 23, 1962 in Kuldiga, Latvia. Since 1986 Sietiņš has kept up a full schedule of exhibitions in Europe, where his prints often win prizes. Sietins is also professor of Graphic Art at the Latvian Academy of Art, where he is currently department head. His prints are in numerous museums in Europe.
Guntars Sietiņš is one of the finest graphic artists of his generation. Using the difficult medium of mezzotint, he combines hyper-realism and surrealism to create a very distinct aesthetic. Sietiņš transforms reality into a world of surreal objects that exist outside normal confines of time and gravity.
