Smith Blanchard Art
Smith Blanchard was born on August 19, 1952, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Blanchard was the son of the late Haitian artist Sisson Blanchard who worked as a yard-boy at Le Centre d'Art in Port-au-Prince. His father encouraged him to paint and helped him develop his unique style, which was very different from his father’s. Like his father, Blanchard’s paintings are rare and very hard to come by. Blanchard is renowned for his nuanced portraits of Vodou Loa and his lush landscapes. He moved to the US in the 1980s. Blanchard has exhibited in France and the US.
