Exceptional art deco rectangular case, created in Paris France at the jewelry workshop atelier of Strauss Allard et Meyer, back in the 1925-1926. This piece has been carefully crafted in solid .925/.999 sterling silver with gilt interiors. It is decorated with applications on both sides of vivid red-orange lacquer. This beautiful box was made with cushioned edges and is fitted with an six barrel tension hinge, a push lock and a barrier to storage cards. It is in mint condition with no trace of use or wear and can be easily used as a luxury presentation cards-box.

Measurements: 55 mm by 68 mm by 9.5 mm (2.16 x 2.68 by 0.39 Inches).

Very elegant rectangular box, created in America during the art deco period back in the 1930-1940. This elegant desk box was crafted by the Poole Silver Co. with sharp lines in solid sterling silver with high polished finish. Mount in four elaborated geometric sabots and fitted in the interior with linings of natural cedar wood and a secure lid with nine barrels hinge.

The Poole Silver Company was formed in 1892 by George Poole and Edward Roche in Taunton as Poole, Roche & Co., then established as a corporation on May 21, 1895. They was in the beginning manufacturer of plated silverware and manufacturer of silver products made with electroplating techniques. In 1900 it operated in a small two-room factory at 106 Whittington Street, and later moved to 320 Whittington Street. From 1946 the firm began to produce sterling silver flatware, hollowware, and cutlery. Later, Poole bought the full control and managed the company until his death. This superb elegant round box is closely to mint condition, is very rare and was carefully crafted at the Louis Kuppenheim workshop in solid .935/.999 silver, with gilt interiors and a mirror. Exceptional workmanship as you expect of the workshop of Louis Kuppenheim, with remarkable enameled patterns of peacocks feathers on both faces. Embellished around with white enamel frames and the borders with incised and carved panels with flowers.

Louis Kuppenheim Company
The company was grounded in 1854 by Louis Kuppenheim (1824-1889) and Heinrich Witzenmann, specialized in silver and gold and enameled artefacts. On the World Exhibition in 1900 the firm received a gold medal for a letter opener. In that same year the company opened a branch in the Rue Richelieu 67 in Paris. In these years some designs by Hans Christiansen were executed, amongst them very delicately enameled silver cigarette cases. The enamels on the several silver and gold pieces was of very high standard, and sometimes even gems like rubies were applied. Very famous were the ladies silver vanity cases with cute animals like cats and monkeys...

This extraordinary and beautiful cased-box, was created in London England during the Art Deco period. Has a great provenance and was designed by the famous silversmiths and retail store of Finnigans Limited, back in the 1932. The thematic of this box is rare and very popular. Has been crafted in solid .925/.999 sterling silver standard with gilded interiors. The case has been made in a cushioned compact shape with eight barrels hinge and a push pressure thumb. The main panel on top is illustrated with a landscape scene and a Formula-1 racing red car, with the number L6, all realized with polychrome enamels. The reverse is embellished with engine turned guilloche decorations. This fine piece is masterfully worked with extreme details and is a very especial example for any collector, or a wonderful gift for someone special. It is in perfect preserved condition.

A beautiful colorful art deco box, created at the 33 East Kinney Street, in Newark New Jersey by the Wordley Allsopp & Bliss Company, back in the 1930. This rectangular box was carefully crafted in solid sterling silver .925/.999 with accents in 14 karats yellow gold. The complete outer parts are embellished with geometric patterns made up in green malachite and black lacquer. The inside are finished with high polish and gilding.
Weight: 82.95 Grams, (53.17 Dwt).
Measurements: 75 mm by 58 mm by 22 mm (2.95 x 2.28 x 0.87 Inches).
Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark, the assay of the metals and signed, "WAB STERLING & 14K".

Miniature is a very ancient technique which consists of painting works in small proportions.
It was born for the decoration of the first letter of the paragraph of the books.
Over the years, however, this technique is refined and enriched, then moving on to precious personal items.
Hand painted miniatures can be done with multiple different techniques.
The most important that we use on our articles are of three kinds:
1) Fire enamel.
2) Water tempera on an ivory plate.
3) Painted on mother-of-pearl.
Fire enameled miniatures:
On a first layer of enamel generally white or very clear or even transparent suitably liquefied at a temperature of about 750 ° C, the chosen subject is painted using miniature colors which are as many colored crystals, ground and reduced to a very fine, almost impalpable powder washed and purified in distilled water with the addition of small quantities of deoxidizing acids which, diluted with essential oils (usually essential oil of solder), can be mixed to form a palette of colors.
With very fine sable hair brushes you draw the subject starting from the perimeter and then gradually adding various layers of color.
It is necessary to carry out various firings very often so that the colors harden and are not absorbed by the underlying glaze as, during the subsequent firings at 750 ° C, during liquefaction, it would spread irremediably. Hence the need to form the painting a little at a time, cooking it numerous times.
Therefore it is necessary to proceed with numerous retouching, often overlapping different colors that only the painter's experience knows. A beautiful miniature needs from 20 to over 50 firings and is finished when the painter deems he does not have to further intervene.
Some colors must have darker tones than others because then, by superimposing the transparent enamel placed at the end of the miniature, they fade. This transparent layer, called “fondant” in jargon, must be smoothed and polished like all other translucent enamel colors.
