Pair of Fine English Georgian Mahogany Knife Boxes
About the Item
A particularly fine pair of knife boxes with banded mahogany slanted hinged lids and shaped fronts. The interior with inlaid satinwood star motifs inside the lids, carved slots for different knives with thin satinwood string inlaid frames. The case with metal loops for lifting the lids and escutcheons (lacking keys). Green felt bases.
Each knife box measures: Height 14 1/2", depth 11", width 9"
Condition: Stable age across the backs, expected to the fine bands, and one box with stable cracks along the inside front joinery, small chip above one escutcheon. All the aforementioned is for accuracy, the knife box pair present exceptionally well.
