Rustic Pine Beam Bench Pine and Corten Steel Base by Alabama Sawyer 6'
About the Item
Our beam bench utilizes salvaged local pine logs for a rustic bench for indoors or outdoors. Narrow and backless, the simple lines express the natural texture of the end grain of each species. The 15" x 15" beam is milled and finished to sit on a Corten steel base that is mortised into the bottom of the beam. The beam bench brings primitive beauty at a variety of lengths. Cracks, knots and variation is part of the beauty of these pieces. The wood will continue to move and the finish to age over time. Dense, heavy pine is sanded smooth enough to retain character, but to avoid splinters. We add a low sheen, exterior-grade urethane for extra protection and seal.
Covered outdoor is preferable to complete exposure to the elements. Wood will age outside. Corten steel is rusted. Length can be customized up to 12' long.

Alabama Sawyer
At Alabama Sawyer, we design modern, environmentally sustainable products from fallen trees in the Birmingham, Alabama area. Since we began in 2014, we have diverted hundreds of logs from the landfill by transforming them into award-winning furniture and products for homes and businesses. Instead of letting trees waste in a landfill, we gather them from municipalities, businesses and homeowners to give them a second life. Urban wood has character. Urban wood has knots, burls and insect holes. It’s not "perfect" — it’s unique, one-of-kind and stunningly beautiful. The constraints and adaptations of growing in the urban forest creates character. We handle each log individually with an eye for the best cut. Then we mill it to show off its inner beauty. Our wood is better for the environment. Urban forests give us cleaner air and cooler temperatures. A living tree provides great value to the community — so can a repurposed one. Historically, felled city trees are taken to the landfill to decompose. Every year, Americans bury 4 billion board feet of usable hardwood trees in our city landfills. Using urban wood keeps them from releasing carbon back into the atmosphere where it contributes to climate change. Using urban wood in long-lasting furniture doesn't matter unless the design is right. Our furniture won Garden and Gun's overall Made in the South award in 2017. Our products are specified by top designers and architects nationwide and sold in cutting-edge design collections.
There are several options on this product. Sizes up to 12' long can be achieved. We have several base designs and some flexibility in the size of the beam as well. We can also do color.
