Rug & Kilim's Beige Brown 18th Century European Style Contemporary Flat-Weave
By Rug & Kilim
Located in Long Island City, NY
Handwoven in wool initially for a collaboration with renowned designer Orlando Diaz-Azcuy, this flat weave addition to the European Collection by Rug & Kilim draws inspiration from an 18th century neoclassical pattern in an engaging, experimental scale. Prevailing beige-brown hues allow the more whimsied pink-red color way an appealing real estate in the movement of the rug, the sum play of rich and forgiving hues drawing the eye to the masterful curvature and geometry alike, seldom presented in this orientation creating a unique sense of movement and gravity underfoot. An ideal for select designers seeking entryway rugs...

Antique Rugs, French Savonnerie Carpet, Beige Floral Carpet Rug
Located in Hampshire, GB
During the early seventeenth century, a weaver named Pierre DuPont travelled to the Levant. Upon his return, he claimed to have discovered the technique of creating Turkish rugs. Oriental rugs were extremely expensive during Bourbon times, and a French manufactory that could create the same type of rug would lower the price significantly. Henri VI of France–the reigning monarch at the time–took advantage of DuPont’s skills and established a workshop for him at the Louvre. In 1627, King Louis XIII founded a manufactory for DuPont and his apprentice, Simon Lourdes, on the site of a defunct soap factory in the sixteenth arrondissement (also known as Quai de Chaillot). The name “Savonnerie” was born from the French word “Savon” meaning “soap.” DuPont and Lourdes worked together, weaving rugs under a royal patent for the king and other nobles until they had a falling out and split up. Lourdes remained at the Chaillot location while DuPont went to his workshops in the Louvre, though both continued to make Savonnerie rugs. Antique rugs, French Savonnerie carpet, Beige Floral carpet...

Rug & Kilim's Aubusson Style Kilim Beige Brown and Pink Floral Rug
By Rug & Kilim
Located in Long Island City, NY
From the European collection, this Aubusson Kilim piece is an original by Rug & Kilim, which derives its inspiration from an 18th-Century French style pattern of the same celebrated lineage. Handmade in a wool flatweave, this Aubusson Kilim enjoys a variety of floral elements within the piece, but the focal point is a circular medallion within the center of the kilim rug. The center of the medallion holds a white flower within a pink, red, and white circle. A fan-folded pink circle follows, while a garland of flowers encircles these elements, as a pink border surrounds the entire centerpiece. An all-over pattern of green daisies...
