Louis XVI Style Ormolu Mounted Commode with Italian White Marble Top
Located in Miami, FL
A very fine quality Louis XVI Style ormolu-mounted commode or chest of drawers with an Italian white marble top that is truly breathtaking! Intricate inlaid marquetry design throughout, the front and sides of the piece as well. Remarkable attention to detail in the brass mounts and other hardware! This beautiful Louis XVI style ormolu-mounted commode inlaid with marquetry and parquetry of rosewood, satinwood, possibly amaranth and painted wood inlays, some similarities to the model by Jean-Henri Riesener, Circa 1880. The breakfront white marble top above a conforming moulded cornice and a pair of large deep drawers inlaid with a central foliate, flanked by lattice and patera-decorated panels, the sides with similar panels, the angles with acanthus-cast volutes, on scrolled acanthus feet. The white marble top with striations and veins coming through. Generously sized, the two spacious drawers are perfect for storing your belongings. Would enhance any bedroom, living room, foyer, entryway or office and will have your guests conversing amongst one another about the pure detail and craftsmanship used in order to make it. Embodied with a sense of luxury and glamour, this Louis XVI Style commode or chest of drawers can be paired with a variety of other styles you may already have in your home or place of choosing! Truly a show stopper and will certainly be a conversation starter at your next gathering! Would look wonderful with modern artwork hanging above and an 18th or 19th Century Mantel Clock (choose from our collection) on top of the white marble to further accentuate this beautiful piece of functional furniture. Very good condition with minor surface scratches and small blemishes, but no significant imperfections. Age appropriate wear. Dimensions: 23 1/2" Deep x 57" Wide x 38" High Bears the maker's mark on the back: Fratelli Catteneo About the maker: The company is from the historic Province of Como, home of highly skilled old world artisans, the exceptionally executed 18th century antique reproduction was hand-crafted in the mid-20th century, of very fine quality craftsmanship, detailing and solid wooden construction. Established in Cantù, Italy shortly after the Second World War, the company Fratelli Cattaneo...

17th Century, William and Mary Chinoiserie Trunk on Stand
Located in Nashville, TN
Featured is an extremely rare 17th century Dutch William & Mary Chinoiserie style coffer trunk on stand. This gorgeous piece was constructed of oak in the traditional William and Mary style. The trunk is japanned with red lacquer and was hand painted with Chinoiserie scenes of life in China. There are two iron straps that mount the top to the case. There is also one iron lock, although the key is absent the latch closes and holds the top securely in place. The lacquer is 90% complete with only small losses around the edges and in various places. The top has been reinforced with oak straps underneath to prevent the jointed board from moving. The lacquer has a warm patina throughout and shows very well. The lower stand is fitted with a pair of drawers that are also japanned and hand-painted with Chinoiserie scenes on the drawer fronts. Both drawers are fitted with Dutch style brass tear drop pulls. The stand itself is built of oak with turned legs that are pinned together with traditionally carved Jacobean Influenced leg stretchers on both the right and left sides as well as one main lower center stretcher. If you are looking for a very rare and well preserved piece this is the one. This item was almost surely on a Dutch East India Trading company...
