About the Item
A fun genre painting with students in a classroom being students by American artist George Henry Story (1835-1923). Story held the posts of curator concurrently at both the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, Connecticut. He was at the Metropolitan from 1889-1906, and the Wadsworth, 1899-1922. In 1904-1905, Story had been acting director at the Metropolitan.
