Paris Evening from the Rooftops of Paris set is a serigraph on paper with an image size of 26 x 20", signed ‘Kondakova’ lower right and numbered lower left. From the edition of 500 and numbered 12/175 (there were also 100 on black paper and 225 on canvas). Framed in an ornate, gold-tone moulding.
Liudmila Kondakova once again exhibits exceptional skill with painting light and color to convey the beauty of the streets and skies of Paris in Rooftops of Paris. The windows are brightened by lights as the sky turns to a rich, royal blue in Paris Evening. The moon ascends high into the sky above Montmartre, brightening the rooftops of this once thriving artists' community, known also for its fabled nightlife. In the distance, the basilica of Sacré-Cœur (erected: 1873) shines in the pale twilight. Those who love Montmartre - Paris's best-known landmark after the Eiffel Tower - will love Paris Evening. Kondakova has captured its beauty, elegance and history. Meticulous detail and vivid colors are found in each crack of the age-old buildings and every flower box that catches your eye.

Liudmila Kondakova’s artworks are rich with clarity and light, reflecting in their extraordinary draftsmanship a sense of artistic and spiritual well-being. Her meticulous attention to detail allows us to become intimately involved in the life of her paintings, often depicting well-known streets and landmarks in Paris. In the artist’s words: “To me, these streets, with their worn cobblestones and aged buildings, evoke a sense of nostalgia and romance with a touch of melancholy. It is the ideal kind of space.” Since her childhood in Russia, Liudmila Kondakova has been fascinated by traditional art, and by a sense of spirituality that transcends common existence. Her painting technique follows the tradition of medieval egg-tempera painters. Her palette—influenced by the icon painters of Byzantium and later, Russia—is both vibrant and beautiful, with colors that blend in a subtle, poetic balance. Born in Russia in 1956, Liudmila Kondakova immigrated to the United States in 1991. A graduate of the Grabar Center in Moscow, she also attended Russia’s School of Sacred Arts, the Moscow Pedagogical Institute and the Moscow Art Institute. Kondakova connects her highly trained background to her artistic expression this way: “In my art, the essence and beauty has always rested in the details.”

Elevating the iconic Audrey Hepburn these prints unite hand painted elements, collaged found wire, diamonds and star constellations all in her monochrome style. Rosie Emerson, born in 1981, is a contemporary artist working almost exclusively on representing the female form. Emerson’s figures draw reference from archetypes old and new, from Artemis to the modern day super model, each solitary figure, an allegory of her own fantasy. Interested in surface, the interplay between photography and painting. Emerson’s works are playful constructs; Photography is used, not as a device for capturing reality but for creating romanticised optical illusions. Inspired by her love of theatre, performance, shrines and rituals, she uses lighting, costume, set and prop making, alongside printmaking and painting to create other worldly one off pieces.
