Inter-Relation Selfie 208, representational work on paper, gun with flowers
By Seongmin Ahn
Located in New York, NY
Seongmin Ahn Inter-Relation Selfie 208 2015 Ink and color on mulberry paper ------------ The essence of Ahn's work begins from the conception of complicated personal struggles as a spouse, an immigrant and an outsider artist in New York. Through creating process, she contemplate both her daily issues and fundamental matters, thus transferring those into physical representation while asking meaningful questions to her audiences about life as reality, relation between people, spiritual being and transcendence. Ahn is interested in pushing boundaries of traditionalism, thus opening up new dialogue in global context. Through this dialogue she encourage her audience to think about inter-connectedness between tradition and contemporary, West and East, and two contradictory elements. Contradiction, and Paradox is also a main key to understand her works. She uses iconography from Minhwa, Korean folk...

Reinhard Görner: Colored Columns III: Neue Museum, Berlin
By Reinhard Görner
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Reinhard Görner Colored Columns New Museum, Berlin 62.5 x 50 inches ed. of 10 $6,000 75 x 60 inches ed. of 5 $9,000 87.5 x 70 inches ed. of 5 $11,000 signed and numbered on label, verso Reinhard Görner, with his large format photographs orchestrates the monumentality of rooms. An active architecture photographer since 1985, is a master of perspectives and precise spatial compositions, and he thus considers classical sculpture, in all of its possible facets, a special challenge. "Görner’s photographs sometimes open the doors to another world and take the viewer with them on a journey through time. Here the palace is no longer a museum but both royal residence and a site steeped in history. The viewer does not have to share the halls with the masses of visitors; instead the images offer him exclusive impressions of the Galerie des Glaces (Hall of Mirrors) and the Galerie des Batailles (Hall of Battles) as even the king of France was probably never granted. The halls are empty of people, yet they seem to be able to unfurl their individual characters of their own accord. These places practically breathe history, and this aspect is also part of the essence captured in the photographs. King Wilhelm of Prussia was named German Emperor Wilhelm I in the Hall of Mirrors after France was defeated in 1870–1871 in the Franco-German War. The Treaty of Versailles following World War I was also signed there in 1919. In this sense, the architectural photographs of Versailles’s ceremonial rooms have an edge on Renaissance paintings; here even a sense of world history arises within the viewer – one which continues to exert an influence today". Horst Klöver Paper is trimmed to the image: actual image size listed Internal: The Neues Museum...

Ophelia # 5, hand painted, mixed media portrait photography on paper, framed
By Rosie Emerson

This gorgeous artwork on paper was created initially with a screen print base of the model, then Rosie hand finishes the work with a unique splash and painted composition. Some call them Unique Prints. The base image is only used 12 times and this is the AP Rosie Emerson, born in 1981, is a contemporary artist working almost exclusively on representing the female form. Emerson’s figures draw reference from archetypes old and new, from Artemis to the modern day super model, each solitary figure, an allegory of her own fantasy. Interested in surface, the interplay between photography and painting. Emerson’s works are playful constructs; Photography is used, not as a device for capturing reality but for creating romanticised optical illusions. Inspired by her love of theatre, performance, shrines and rituals, she uses lighting, costume, set and prop making, alongside printmaking and painting to create other worldly one off pieces. Her photography is inspired by both the drama of the baroque, and ethereal qualities of Pre Raphaelite works. Other important influences include late medieval and renaissance paintings, Japanese prints, and magical realist literature. Emerson’s screen...

Slim Aarons 'Hôtel du Cap, Eden-Roc' (Slim Aarons Estate Edition)
By Slim Aarons
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Guests by the pool at the Hotel du Cap Eden-Roc, Antibes, France, 1969. 48 x 72 inches $6100 40 x 60 inches $5400 30 x 40 inches $4200 20 x 30 inches $3900 Over the course of a career lasting half a century, Slim Aarons (1916-2006) portrayed high society, aristocracy, authors, artists, business icons, the celebrated and their milieu. In doing so, he captured a golden age of wealth, privilege, beauty and leisure that occurred alongside—but quite separate from—the cultural and political backdrop of the second half of the Twentieth Century. The Slim Aarons Estate has released the limited Estate edition as a Lambda print, which is a modern c-type prints. They have chosen Lambda prints for their sharpness, clarity, colour saturation and quality, compared to archival inkjet prints. Lambda printing gives true continuous tone. Antibes is a resort town between Cannes and Nice on the French Riviera (Côte d’Azur). It’s known for its old town enclosed by 16th-century ramparts with the star-shaped Fort Carré. This overlooks luxury yachts moored at the Port Vauban marina. The forested Cap d’Antibes peninsula, dotted with grand villas, separates Antibes from Juan-les-Pins, a chic resort with buzzing nightlife and the Jazz à Juan music festival. Slide show includes a close-up of the Slim Aarons estate's stamp.
