"Radiator" Optical Art Contemporary Painting with Female Figure
By Emily Roz
Located in New York, NY
"Radiator is an evocative contemporary op art painting, depicting a female nude with bullseyes of color and graphic bursts. Emily Roz incorporates a complex palette of pastel colors with contrasting deep violets, reds and golden yellow oranges. The geometric patterns and forms create illusion and optical effects that distorts the background into multi-levels of angles and planes of color. The female figure's skin tone reflects and seems to radiate the glow from the vibrant red and yellow stripes and concentric circles, which reference op art and a 1970's sensibility. Emily Roz, "Radiator" acryla gouache on paper, 12 x 16 inches, 2020 Emily Roz (b. 1972, New Haven, CT) is a New York based artist. She has had multiple solo exhibitions at Front Room Gallery...

"Suspend" Optical Art Contemporary Painting with Female Figure
By Emily Roz
Located in New York, NY
"Suspend" is an evocative contemporary op art painting, depicting a female nude lounging amongst a planar background of optics and geometric visual effects. Vibrant colors of violets, reds, yellows and blues in geometric patterns create illusion and optical effects that surround and absorb the figure in this painting by Emily Roz. Referencing op art and a 1970's sensibility, volumizing shaded stripes, polka dots, stripes and radiating lines of color in contrasting angles creates a distorted planar ground that the figure extends across, facing away from the viewer. Emily Roz, "Suspend" acryla gouache on paper, 12 x 16 inches, 2020 Emily Roz (b. 1972, New Haven, CT) is a New York based artist. She has had multiple solo exhibitions at Front Room Gallery...

Vibrant colors of reds and blues in geometric patterns create illusion and optical effects that surround and absorb the figure in this painting by Emily Roz. Referencing op art and a 1970's sensibility, grids of distorted checkerboard patterns, polka dots, stripes and swirls are composed at contrasting angles presenting a planar ground that the figure extends across. View from the Train: Cityscape Oil Painting, View of Brooklyn
By Patty Neal
Located in Hudson, NY
View from the Train, 2019 24" X 40" x 1", oil on canvas This contemporary oil painting depicting a metropolitan view is the work of realist painter Patty Neal. The painting offers an intimate view of the city, as seen from a window, as it peeks from behind two metal structures. The dark browns and bright golds beautifully compliment the dusty blue, gray sky. Neal works highlight everyday city scenes, utilitarian infrastructure, and industrial or electrical apparatus. Artist statement: A life is an accumulation of experiences: visual, emotional and mental. By compartmentalizing these snippets of life we create boundaries. The focus of my work for many years has been the exploration of these various life aspects and how they are bound together or bound from each other. My process is often literally composed of boundaries. I make a painting by putting together multiple panels, or I segment a single panel into separate visual spaces. The works are made up of pieces or elements of city and landscape. While exploring the concepts of boundaries I play with visual “reality.” Sometimes I combine images that are upside down with those that are not and juxtapose images from different contexts. Literal boundaries, such as walls fences, expanses of water and highway median strips are also used. My intent is to invite viewers to look beyond these boundaries to see the possibilities of a connected whole. Orientalist Post Impressionist Garden Landscape, The Agave.
Located in Cotignac, FR
Oil on board study of a Blue Agave in its landscape by French artist Louis Michel Bernard. Signed bottom right and with atelier stamp to the rear of the panel. Presented in fine custom carved wood, gesso, silver leaf and patinated frame. A charming painting of an iconic plant, the thick tendril leaves reaching out from the centre ground surrounded by the ancient oaks and olive tress in the landscape. Bernard has used browns and ochres for the ground surrounding the plant and trees which gives the painting almost an abstract quality. His use of material gives a vivacity to the composition and texture to the surface of the painting. A wonderful addition to any collection or interior. Louis Michel Bernard (1885–1962) was a French artist who primarily focused on landscapes, and he gained recognition as an Orientalist painter...
