British, 1829-1925

Henry Weigall was born to Henry Weigall Senior and Selina Smith. Henry, sometimes called Henry Weigall Junior, was part of a very talented family. His father was a sculptor, gem engraver, die-sinker and modeler. Weigall painted numerous portraits of well-known people, including Prime minister Disraeli and created sculptures. He married Rose Sophia Mary Fane on August 15, 1866, in Westminster Abbey, London. Weigall lived in London in 1880 and Ramsgate Kent in 1889. In 1919, Weigall and his wife donated to the Ramsgate Football Club the land occupied by Southwood Stadium. Weigall has exhibited at Royal Society of Artists, Birmingham, Grosvenor Gallery, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, Manchester Art Gallery, New Gallery, Royal Academy, Royal Hibernian Academy and Royal Scottish Academy. He passed away in 1925.

Located in Woodbury, CT
Well painted 19th-century portrait of Sir Charles Dickens. There was a great fashion to paint copies of famous paintings during the 19th century and most of the world's most famous paintings have been copied many times. Often the artist who does the copy is very talented but usually anonymous With this piece, it's the only way to own an antique copy...
