Kittie O'Meallie Art
Kitty O'Meallie (nee Kate Morrison Chamness) was born in Bennettsville, South Carolina. Despite economic hardships, her father arranged for Kitty to attend Newcomb School of Fine Arts at Tulane University during the Depression-era. She returned to Tulane for postgraduate study, during the latter half of the 1950s. O'Meallie became established as a well-respected regional artist in New Orleans and the southeastern United States. Aside from individual and group exhibits in New Orleans, she also had one-woman shows in the Masur Museum of Art in Monroe, Louisiana.
