Patricia enthusiastically explains that "the lower half of this painting suggests the dark of night, while various strokes refer to energy created from rockets flying up and exploding into the night sky full of thunder and lightening explosions." Using palette knives, she rapidly applied yellow, orange and black in this boisterous modern painting.

When you receive the painting, read that information, purchase or obtain the music from a library etc. , listen to the music ; see what it inspires in yourself. Abstract is always open to the interpretations of the viewer. My work is acrylic with palette knife, there is a clear low sheen varnish on the front as well as the edges. Each piece is wired ; ready to install. This piece is composed of acrylic ; paint sticks on masonite board that is in a clear pine cradle with cross corner braces. About the Artist
As a child in the 1950s, Patricia Oblack sat in front of the television and learned to draw with Jon Gnagy’s New Television Art Instruction Book. The exercise led to a love of art, and in 1962 she begged her mother to purchase lessons from Art Instruction, Inc. in Minneapolis. Within a few weeks, a box arrived with art supplies, including her first palette knife. Patricia finished every lesson, and was in good company–another student of the school was renowned Peanuts cartoonist Charles M. Schulz. From that humble beginning, Patricia became a lifelong artist, currently creating dark, earthy abstracts, which she paints with the same palette knife from childhood.

Monterey by artist Patricia Oblack and a brown, grey, turquoise, and black contemporary abstract mixed media on panel that measures 48 x 64 and is priced at $7,400. “Presently, I use color - layers and layers if color and texture to create and unify other dissimilar elements that might otherwise not stand alone. I stop short of the immediately recognizable – leaving room for the interpretation and exploration by the viewer.” artist statement Life goes through many changes as does the creativity of the painter. With more than 30 years of experimentation, I can't remember a time in my life when I haven't been drawing, painting or creating. As I developed as an artist, I branched out to Interior Designers who brought customers requesting decorated furniture, stenciling, murals, faux finishing and much more. Another creative change led me to Chanticleer Pottery where I learned that long hours of repetitious work can sharpen your techniques. All of the years I spent building a portfolio of painted furniture, Orchid Botanicals & decorated walls has created the backbone for my current work. Springtime Resurrection
By Ronnie Landfield
Located in Austin, TX
Acrylic on canvas. Signed, titled, and dated on verso. 86 x 74 in. 87.25 x 75.25 in. (framed) Please note: Our framing studio could not accommodate the scale of this work, so it is being sold as-acquired. The canvas is housed in an original “studio strip” frame installed by the artist. Please see condition notes below for additional details and an assessment of condition. Provenance Steve Chase Design, Palm Springs, CA Ronnie Landfield was born in the Bronx, NY on January 9, 1947 - the same day as his older brother. As a teenager, he was encouraged to pursue a career as an artist, subsequently creating his first real paintings around the age of 14. He was particularly influenced by a Life magazine article from 1961 on the Abstract Expressionists, most notably: Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, Adolph Gottlieb, Hans Hofmann, Mark Rothko, Clyfford Still, Robert Motherwell and Franz Kline. After stints at the Art Students League, the Kansas City Art Institute, the San Francisco Art Institute, and the University of California at Berkeley, Landfield’s professional career as a painter began in New York in 1965. The following year, after completing a major series of hard-edge border paintings, success as a painter began to materialize. The famous architect and collector Philip Johnson and the collector Robert Scull each acquired large paintings works, as did the Sheldon Memorial Museum in Lincoln, Nebraska. In 1967, Landfield was invited to participate in the Whitney Annual at the end of the year. His work attracted considerable attention, and he was invited to participate in important group exhibitions at the Bykert, Bianchini, and Park Place Galleries in New York. Landfield joined the David Whitney...
