Proenza Schouler Fall 2012 Brocade Dress / Coat

About the Item

Founded in 2002, Proenza Schouler is a luxury women’s ready-to-wear and accessory brand based in New York. The unique name is a combination of the two head designers’, Jack McCullough’s and Lazaro Hernandez’, mother’s maiden names. Elegant, sophisticated, and classic are all words to describe their exciting yet austere work. Their 2012 Fall collection brought a dose of Eastern flair to the trendy array of boxy, oversized silhouettes. “It’s asian, but in a New York way,” said Hernandez of the collection, which evolved from tailored jackets and trousers to satin cocktail dresses, and remained remarkable throughout. As seen as look #34 on that season’s runway, this incredible wrap dress is a testament to the designer’s skill and creativity. Done in a magnificent silk brocade in shades of teal, silver, black, rust, navy, white, black, and gold, this dress is a sophisticated and modern take on the kimono. The brocade is a sinuous tapestry of different patterns that evoke traditional Asian motifs, from sections of abstract and wave-like brocade to celebratory bursts of silver and gold flowers. The dress begins with a high collar and long sleeves that extend past the wrists. The tiered skirt falls from a drop waist to a mini length above the knee, adding volume to the otherwise straight silhouette. The dress is constructed in such a way that it almost looks like it is a jacket paired with a mini-skirt, giving it that New York edge that makes it feel somewhat daring and exciting. Size: 4 Measurements: Shoulders: 15 inches Bust: 36 inches Length: 33 inches The collar, cuffs, back of the sleeves, hem and layers of the skirt are trimmed in black silk, creating striking lines that make the design pop and give the eye something new to appreciate from each angle. A magnificent addition to the discerning fashion lover’s wardrobe, this gorgeous wrap dress can also be worn as an evening coat, allowing for versatile styling. The perfect choice for an evening soiree, wedding, or special occasion, this wrap dress is meant for the spotlight and can easily be styled with statement heels and accessories. This 2012 Proenza Schouler coat dress is fully lined in black silk. In excellent condition, it closes with concealed snaps and a silk tie. This coat dress has been cleansed with obsidian and sage to ensure that you are welcoming a bright new energy into your home and has also been professionally eco-dry cleaned and pressed. High-quality pieces like this are yours to live in and love while increasing in value every year. It’s never too soon to start collecting them, as an investment in your wardrobe—and in yourself. - Follow us on Instagram @BASHAGOLD
