Vintage Japanese Silk Meisen Kimono with Geometrical Design
About the Item
A vintage Japanese formal silk Kimono in an "ink green" color with striking geometrical design. The garment is hand-stitched Meisen kimono from a crepe like thin silk and dated to 1940-60s. The dark nearly black background is artistically contrasted with slightly metallic pink and white geometric motifs that resemble thunderbolt. The strokes are accompanied by oval dots in shades of pink, grey and white. The geometrical visual calls to mind the modernism artwork by Japanese artist Toko Shinoda. The garment is lined interiorly with pink and white silk. 48" wide and 58" high as displayed. Shoulder to shoulder 24" wide. The size shown is for the packaging.
The garment can be worn as a bespoken fashion piece or simply used as a modern wall hanging.
