Pair of 1930s Italian Bronze Animalier Sculptures

About the Item

Pair of polychrome bronze animalier sculptures. This exceptional and very rare pair of sculptures depicting cranes are a supreme example of the Japaneseising taste in vogue in Europe at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Works with animal subjects, known in the French ‘animalier’ style, are the ultimate expression of the Art Deco taste that made extreme elegance its artistic benchmark. Our works, of unparalleled taste and style, can be traced back to the 1920s and 1930s; from the Lombardy area, they take up, at the highest level, the oriental style of the beginning of the century. Made of bronze using the lost wax technique, they present a variegated polychromy in shades of green and red combined with rare mastery. These animals have always been a symbol of harmony and elegance; in the East they are even associated with deities, with auspicious and pacifying powers. This artwork, never before on the market, comes from an important European private collection. Every item of our Gallery, upon request, is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by Sabrina Egidi official Expert in Italian furniture for the Chamber of Commerce of Rome and for the Rome Civil Courts.
