19th century English Georgian Flint Glass Compote Pair

About the Item

Pair of large English Georgian flint glass compotes or tazzas, featuring graceful pedestals and incredible detail with a saw tooth edge. Measure: 7.25 inches at top and 5.50 inches across pedestal bottom. See other measurements below. "Flint glass refers to glass made with powdered flint and later lead, produced in the United States and the United Kingdom from the 1820's through the 1860's. The term flint glass was given to better glassware, perfected in England, because powdered flint was added to the glass formula to improve clarity. It should be noted that the lead in this glass is in an unbreakable chemical bond and will not contaminate the food or drink it holds.
