Unique Alfredo Barbini Scavo Glass Medusa Murano Pendant with Brass Canopy

About the Item

Alfredo Barbini, of Murano, Italy, produced incredible glass works during his long career including pendants, lamps and vases. This Medusa pendant exemplifies the technique of Scavo, whereby the surface of the glass is treated with an abrasive chemical to dissolve part of the finish, giving it a corroded, almost ancient look. Inset into the glass shade are blue and bronze metallic incrustations nearly resembling geodes. The shade design is unusual with a smooth interior and frosted exterior. Each pendant is unique. The length of the cord is at least 24".
