19th Century Napoleon III Giltwood French Pair of Armchairs by Frederic Quignon

About the Item

A superb pair of gilt armchairs, France, Napoleon III period, signed Quignon. Frederic Gustave Quignon, son of Napoleon Quignon, was born in Paris on 7 November 1843. He worked with his father, became a partner in 1872, then his successor in 1874. Increase the production of chairs and furniture with carvings and sculptures and became the supplier of Furniture and National Furniture. At the Universal Exhibition of 1878, he obtains the gold medal: "his chairs cannot be surpassed for their beauty of execution. The golden woods have bronze reflections, and the sculpture has all the delicacy of a chiselling researched and studied in the metal." Small deficiencies in the gilding, the missing parts are there and are only to be glued.
