About the Item
The bench takes its formal character from the traditional bench chair of the Chinese countryside. In a contemporary translation, four benches compose a set with the potential to create different configurations of the object and space. Subtle details are made explicit as the legs slot into and float above each other to form a sculptural object that traces a line receding into the distance.
Each bench is made from wood and is lightweight enough to enable them to be assembled and disassembled to suit different configurations as desired. Metal detailing marks a cut that recedes with height and anchors the feet to the floor.
