Pair of framed black basalt medallions, Wedgwood, circa 1880

About the Item

A pair of black basalt medallions, depicting Venus & Cupid, as Day and Night. Day shows Venus and Cupid with symbols of victory; night shows Venus offering poppies, which are symbolic of sleep, as they are the source of opium. Recently framed, and very nicely too.
