Like "el dorado", a cultural construction, a myth, the Looking for happiness series talks about the illusion of happiness.
Using coordinates between different geographical points and world views, seeking to generate a dialogue between stories.
In this way, places speak to tell us about degraded utopias, religious crusades, martyrs and oppressors, wars, victories, and defeats. All searches for what cannot be found.
The infinite existing possibilities, in this continuous present and its accumulation, to be history. The utopian idea of achieving completeness or completeness.

This bold and vivid abstract oil on canvas was painted by French painter Auguste Herbin, a pioneer in popularizing Modernist abstraction. Over his expansive nearly 60-year career, Herbin rubbed shoulders with art history greats from Pablo Picasso to Georges Braque before honing his personal and innovative style. Entitled Aoum II, the painting stands apart for its daring color palette and crisp composition.
Painted in 1944, Aoum II embodies Herbin’s fully-formed artistic aesthetic and stylistic tenets. Only two years prior to its creation, Herbin developed his “alphabet plastique,” a synergistic visual language of color and form that he described in detail in his published book L’art non-figuratif non-objectif. Though the artist was highly cerebral in his process of creating art, one does not need to perfectly understand his principles to feel Aoum II's magnetism. The geometric shapes visible in the composition — primarily fragmented triangles and circles — are rendered in bold pinks, blues and yellows on a deep black background. His tiered application of color creates a natural three-register visual effect as if to tell a story from the apex of the form to its denouement.
Auguste Herbin began his artistic training at the École des Beaux-Arts de Lille before moving to Paris in 1901. In the early years of his career, he experimented with a variety of styles, exhibiting Post-Impressionistic works at the Salon des Indépendants in 1906 and Fauvist paintings at the Salon d'Automne in 1907. In this work, I am a developing personal philosophy of the trinity—the uniting of three in one. The trinity consists of Energy, Nature, and Source.
Energy is located in the heart, where faith and belief originate. The Source is anything that creates: God, the mind, the sun. Nature is material, offering us the tools to make and destroy.
The three principles connect, communicate and converse with one another to form the ecosystem in which the human being lives, breathes and works, dependent on the interplay between the elements. The trinity is the value of life.
Mohamed Monaiseer (b. Cairo, Egpyt 1989) gives body and form to immaterial phenomena with works of drawing and painting. He has exhibited in many galleries and culture spaces throughout Egypt, and was a prizewinner in the 25th Youth Salon at the Cairo Opera House. He has presented solo exhibitions at Gezira Art Center (2013) and Safarkhan Gallery (2014) in Cairo. Cabana A - Abstracted Urban Landscape of Tower at Milano Centrale Train Station
Located in Chicago, IL
From its opening in 1931, Milano Centrale station was watched and worked by an army of more than 130 people in 7 different signal towers, 2 of which were of the bridge type across tracks. One of those towers is seen here in Albert Vidal's aptly titled work "Cabina A" - the closest of the switching towers to the main station. The loose, abstract brush strokes and warm color palette come together in this remarkable urban landscape painting. The bottom of the painting is marked with Vidal's signature - a series of numbers. The artist has carried the painting over the edges, thus allowing it to remain unframed. Alternate framing options can be discussed with the gallery.

Nabokov’s Signs Ahmed Gaafary takes Vladimir Nabokov’s phenomenal short story “On Signs and Symbols” as an instigator to series of large and medium scale paintings. The fictitious characters in Nabokov’s narrative who act mysteriously around the banal pseudo conflict that faces an urban family –that could be any of us—is transcribed and encrypted by Gaafary on canvas, where lines define accurately shapes and forms that are in themselves flexible and not geometrical. Areas of almost solid colors represent in a diversity of tones and hues the psychological changes that happen to Nabokov’s protagonists in a very well defined space and time. Gaafary’s signs and symbols on another layer resembles mystic ciphers and codes, much reminiscent of Jean Baudrillard’s post-structuralist essays about the subject, in particular his texts addressing mediation, mass communication and the logic of contemporary symbolic exchange inspired and influenced by anthropologist Marcel Mauss and the Canadian philosopher of communication Marshall McLuhan’s work about the nature of social relations determined by the forms of communication that any given society adopts. Ahmed Gaafary navigates his viewers through realms of personal symbols and signs of a personal narrative.

After His Graduation as an Information System Engineer, He Gave Up His Engineer Practices And Decided To Be An Independent Visual Artist. Abstract art has origins in 19th-century Europe, but it came into its own as a significant movement during the 20th century. Early practitioners of abstraction included Wassily Kandinsky, although painters were exploring nonfigurative art prior to the influential Russian artist’s efforts, which were inspired by music and religion. Abstract painters endeavored to create works that didn’t focus on the outside world’s conventional subjects, and even when artists depicted realistic subjects, they worked in an abstract mode to do so.
In 1940s-era New York City, a group of painters working in the abstract mode created radical work that looked to European avant-garde artists as well as to the art of ancient cultures, prioritizing improvisation, immediacy and direct personal expression. While they were never formally affiliated with one another, we know them today as Abstract Expressionists.
The male contingent of the Abstract Expressionists, which includes Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning and Robert Motherwell, is frequently cited in discussing leading figures of this internationally influential postwar art movement. However, the women of Abstract Expressionism, such as Helen Frankenthaler, Lee Krasner, Joan Mitchell and others, were equally involved in the art world of the time. Sexism, family obligations and societal pressures contributed to a long history of their being overlooked, but the female Abstract Expressionists experimented vigorously, developed their own style and produced significant bodies of work.
