Bailer Shell - Single Bailer Sea Shell on Brown Table w/ Green Watered Backdrop
By Helen Oh
Located in Chicago, IL
The simplicity of "Bailer Shell" is deceptive. The upturned pale yellow shell sits upon a deep, rich brown table. The shell's reflection is seen in the highly polished surface. The background is delicate green moiré pattern to give an even more opulent feel while adding to the meditative quality of the painting. This artwork is unframed. Please contact the gallery for framing options.

Sheep, South Downs, last day of June II, Animal Painting, Countryside Art
Located in Deddington, GB
Sheep, South Downs, last day of June II is an original landscape painting by Anna Pinkster. It was inspired by time spent sketching and roaming on the South Downs in East Sussex. I loved seeing the sea glistening in the background.
Throughout my career my work has been inspired by my environment - the people, places and cultures that surround me. Following graduation from West Surrey College of Art in 1994 with a first class degree, I traveled extensively in India, South East Asia and Africa creating figurative work which endeavoured to capture people immersed in their daily lives, offering an insight into the essence of a different culture. Commuters in London and bathers on the beaches of Dorset have also inspired my work but, during the national Covid lockdown, I became fascinated by my local landscape in Somerset. I have since visited Wales and the South Downs, creating work in oils and charcoal, working directly from life then refining ideas in the studio. I am most excited working intuitively, directly from life, whether it be a life model in the studio, a flock of sheep in a field or, my most recent obsession, birds in my garden - I find an intense energy and freedom which, I hope, is evident in my work. I have exhibited regularly in London at the Mall galleries SWA, RP, NEAC and Pastel Society, and in the South West, winning prizes including the Prince of Wales Drawing...

Bread and Pears super realism, colorful, object, traditional still life
By Douglas Newton
Located in Brooklyn, NY
Doug Newton’s hyper-real oil paintings observe reality, explore translucency, reflections and luminosity, and dazzle the viewer with all the ways light can transform our perceptions. His subject matter concentrates on still lives of food, toys, candy and household objects.
In addition to many group shows across the country, Mr. Newton’s show, “HARD CANDY and other confections” represents his fifth solo exhibition. His paintings have been collected in numerous private collections.
Dr. Sonia Coman writes in her essay, Doug Newton’s hard candy: the confection of painting
Doug Newton’s paintings are about… painting.
The hyperrealist technique of trompe l’oeil or “trick the eye” is knowingly playful. It simultaneously calls attention to the illusion of a different material—for example, translucent candy wrappers—and the reality of the layers of paint, masterfully applied to the canvas. In that, Newton’s paintings pay homage to an esteemed series of trompe l’oeil masters, from Inquisition-era Spanish painter Francisco de Zurbarán to Gilded-Age American painter William Michael Harnett...
