Cornelis Le Mair Art

Cornelis le Mair was born in Eindhoven on July 3, 1944. He is a Dutch painter. A romantic painter, he is famous because of his 17th-century paintings. As a child, Le Mair developed a talent for drawing. After completing high school he went to study at the art academy in 's-Hertogenbosch where he hoped to improve his painting techniques. He left the academy because, in his opinion, free expression was taught almost exclusively. He was advised to transfer to the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, where the old painter's craft would still be learned. In professor Victor Dolphijn he found a teacher in the art of craftsmanship of old masters. In 1968, Le Mair graduated cum laude in the field of portrait, still life and figure painting. In 1973, Le Mair established himself as an independent painter in an old farmhouse in the vicinity of his hometown Eindhoven. He calls the style in which he works traditional craft. His work is described by art critics as not very innovative. With the general public, however, he is successful and receives many commissions for portraits. He has also arranged exhibitions in galleries and museums that attract many visitors. In addition to his profession, painting portraits, figures, still lifes and single landscapes, he is involved in periods with architecture, making images, building musical instruments and making furniture. He also has several publications on painting to his name.

He is completely self-taught, and believes this process has led him to find a unique voice and vision, through perseverance, trial and error. A painter since 1989, Eric now resides in Salt Lake City, Utah and has been selling his work professionally since 2002. He paints from his travels and the treasures discovered along the way, and he chooses his medium based on the mood he wishes to convey.

The Eindhoven located artist Dutch Artist Cornelis le Mair (birth 1944) is best known for his still-lifes and monumental paintings that look like "straight from the 17th century". For years, the artist has been busy making his paintings, sculptures, writing and making music on a daily basis. He also gives "Masterclasses" and regularly receives people.
These last activities could partly not take place. That meant that there was more time to paint. One of the many plans that le Mair had for a long time was to copy some paintings by Johannes Vermeer. It would be a study of composition, use of color and of the great light in the work of the artist who lived in Delft from 1632 to 1675.
He chose two special works that, for various reasons, can be seen in public almost or not at all.
Both paintings with a story. In the first not-so-nice story, The Work "The Concert" was stolen from a Boston museum in 1990 and has been heard from since then.
